The Government encourages investment in renewable energy

Striving to the year of 2030, electricity production in Vietnam from renewable energy will account for 30% of the national energy structure. Therefore, the Government encourage investment in renewable energy.

That is the information announced by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment at the meeting between this Ministry and the ambassador, deputy ambassadors of many countries in Vietnam on the 5th of October.

At the above meeting, the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Tran Hong Ha said, according to the adjusted master plan on national electricity development, the Government has set the target to the year of 2030, electricity production from energy renewables will make up 30% of the national energy structure.

Minister Tran Hong Ha said, from now to 2030, energy demand in Vietnam will be great. Therefore, the Government of Vietnam is considering about the balance between renewables and fossil energy (oil, coal, natural gas ...). In order to develop renewable energy, the government has operated some experimental wind power projects, developed experimental solar power plant, and issued policies to encourage investment in renewable energy...

Still according to Mr. Tran Hong Ha, electricity price of renewable energy is higher than the price of electricity from conventional energy also led to the difficulty in developing renewable energy in Vietnam. But currently, producing electricity by using fossil fuels has been making the environment pollution increased... This is exactly what Vietnam should consider in stepping up investment to use renewable energy to protect the environment.

At the meeting, Mr. Haike C. Manning, New Zealand Ambassador in Vietnam praised Vietnam's efforts in plans to cut the use of fossil fuels and switch to renewable energy. This represents a positive sign as well as Vietnam's progress to join hands with the international community to cut greenhouse gases, contributing to the Paris Agreement on Climate Change.

Mr. Haike C. Manning also said, according to a joint statement on reforming subsidy policy for fossil fuels, up to now, there has been 40 countries participating to support the removal of fossil fuel subsidies. At the same time, members of the G20 countries (19 countries with the largest economies and the European Union) are considering about the orientation on eliminating subsidies for fossil fuels from 2025.

Regarding Vietnam’s participation on the Joint Statement on policy reform subsidies for fossil fuels, Minister Tran Hong Ha said it would coordinate with the related ministries to discuss and report to the Prime Minister for consideration and decision.

The International Exposition on Technologies and Products for Energy saving and Environment protection in Hai Phong city in 2017(E&E Expo Hai Phong 2017) taking place from November 29th to December 2nd 2017 at Viet-Tiep Friendship Labor Cultural Palace, Lach Tray Ward, Ngo Quyen District, Hai Phong City.
Why do not exploit the potential of renewable energy?
Vietnam is considered as a country with great potentials for renewable energy development but it is still in a potential form that has not yet been exploited
Non-fired building materials: Why do not come into life?
Utilizing the waste of coal-fired power plants
According to preliminary calculations, a coal-fired power plant with a capacity of 1,200 MW daily emits about 4,000 tons of fly-ash cinder, of which, there are 85% of fly-ash.
Setting priority for clean energy investment
Vietnam would increase its attractiveness in foreign investment by developing green energy. That is the confirmation of many delegations attending the meeting on the free trade agreement between Europe and Vietnam organized by the European Business Association in Vietnam.
The green growth – The only way
According to Mr. Nguyen The Phuong, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Planning and Investment, in order to develop renewable energy for green growth, the government should support electricity price from renewable energy because of higher price than thermal electricity, and hydroelectric.
Recycling waste – a resource has been left open
The recycling and reuse of waste resources are trends applied in many countries, contributing to environmental protection and resource savings. However, the recycling waste has not now been adequately paid attention.
